Seasonal Wedding Flowers and Decor for your New Orleans Wedding

In New Orleans it is wedding season year round! At TPG, we are lucky to be able to source our flowers locally for every season and create flowers and wedding decor to reflect the beauty of the season that we are currently in. Here is a guide to seasonal wedding flowers and decor, whether you are having a spring, summer, fall, or winter wedding.

Spring Wedding Decor

Spring is such a great time in New Orleans! So many festivals, great weather, and crawfish! Additionally, there are so many flowers in season at this time of year which leaves our florists with so many options for wedding flowers and bridal bouquets. For spring, we recommend gorgeous flower arches for outdoor and indoor ceremonies as a simple way to elevate your ceremony decor. As far as color palettes go, pastel colors are perfect for spring wedding decor.

Summer Wedding Decor

Summertime is hot in New Orleans but sometimes summer is the best time for guests’ schedules. For summer, many brides like to use in season flowers and go bold and bright with their wedding color scheme. Summer is a good time to use tropical flowers, succulents, and other sorts of bold flowers. Additionally, many brides like to use flowers from trees and shrubbery in bloom with light summer fragrances such as Magnolias and gardenias. For wedding decor, ceremony flower arches are a simple, popular way to elevate your wedding decor and make your lovely, air conditioned wedding feel like it is airy and outside!

Fall Wedding Decor

Fall is beautiful in New Orleans. For fall weddings, brides like to use the colors of the season in their wedding bouquets and decor. Additionally, foliage, dried grasses, and branches are popular ways to celebrate the season in fall wedding decor and add texture to wedding flower arrangements. The fall wedding flower pallet consists of reds, oranges, mustards, and plums.

Fall Flowers in Season:

Sunflowers, mums, dahlia, kale, dried grasses, scabiosa, alstroemeria, protea, and willow.

Winter Wedding Decor

Winter is also a great time in New Orleans. Sure, the weather might be a gamble, but it will either be cold – but not that cold, or hot – but not that hot. Winter wedding decor can be a bit tough with the holidays, but whether your wedding is before or after the holidays, there are elegant ways that you can celebrate the season without handing out candy canes as your guest favors.

Our favorite way to celebrate the season is to look to nature. Great winter wedding decor uses sculptural bare branches and evergreen greenery. Popular winter wedding decor is to use lots of lights and to use garlands in beautiful and nontraditional ways. Floral garlands are quite a hot trend this year in weddings! The color palette for winter flower arrangements are whites, sultry colors (burgundy and plum), grays, pale blues, blush, and seasonal accents such as berries and pine.

Winter Flowers in Season:

Evergreen foliage, dusty miller, kale, eucalyptus, rose, amaryllis, rosemary, berries, thistle, willow.
